Doctrine of perception
Doctrine of perception
It is assumed something corresponding to an external object projects light, sound, waves – they are coded by the sense organ into codes which are identical in nature, but lead to particular direct experience depending which parts of the brain are activated.
Compare identical telegram received by Foreign Office Explosion in capital fires blazing; If the French desk receives it, it means Paris is burning; if the Chinese desk, Peking is ablaze
Note: the presumed ‘object’ and the radiations in waves are all themselves interpretations of codes received in different parts of the brain. Circle?
Vidyaranya says that the mind ‘goes out’ to take the form of an object.
